Construction Underway At Rangers Ballpark
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Construction is well underway at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and when it's finished, Vandergriff Plaza and the entire centerfield area will have a much different look than what Rangers fans are used to.
The outfield plaza, play area, visitors bullpen and safety railings improvements are all part of a $12 million upgrade to the 18 year old ballpark.

The railings have been raised to an above-average height of 42 inches following the death of a fan who fell over the railing during the 2011 season. They now have beveled tops and lean slightly inward toward front-row seats. The rails also use heavy gauge wires instead of bars to improve sight-lines, giving fans a better view of the field.
Along with the updated concession areas, a two-level sports themed restaurant and bar is being added to the outfield plaza.
Construction is expected to be completed by the March 20 deadline. To view a live camera of the construction, click here.
