Conclave Competitions, Pope TV, Tweets & Sistine Brackets

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - You've signed up for sale alerts from your favorite department and grocery store, news and weather alerts from CBSDFW.COM, and trending video alerts… now there are all types of online notifications, texts and gaming wagers concentered on the selection of the next pope.

The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) is being dubbed Pope TV for it's constant coverage of Vatican politics and shows centering on how the new pope may influence Catholic public services, teachings and religious diplomacy.

Instead of normal television commercials, EWTN features breaks with information on papal appearances and pronouncements.

If you're not looking for a minute-by-minute timeline of papal selection activities, popealarm.com cuts to the chase. The Fellowship of Catholic University Students runs the website that allows users to sign up for a text message only when a pope is selected. The website motto is, "When the smoke goes up, you'll know what's going down."

If you're more of the wagering type there are matchups similar to March Madness brackets letting users basically predict how their 'fantasy papal players' will proceed through the process of potential pontiff elimination.

The tournament breaks cardinals off into brackets and pits then against each other. The brackets are essentially handicapping the papal race, something that's already being done by high rollers in Las Vegas. There's even an interactive "Sweet Sistine" tool, offered by the Religious News Service that gives users a glance at how other players voted in various rounds.

So regardless if you're an avid Vatican watcher or not there's likely a digital tool available to meet you conclave needs.
