Cluck, SF Mayor Make Friendly Bet On Series

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck is betting the Giants win one more series.

Cluck has agreed to a friendly wager with San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom as the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants open up the World Series on Wednesday.

Newsom said on Tuesday the losing mayor will have to don the opposing team's jersey and fly to the winning city to perform community service with low-income children.

There will also be an exchange of foods -- Ghirardelli chocolate and sourdough bread for Cluck if the Rangers win and Texas-style barbecue for Newsom if the Giants win.

For those expecting a more involved wager, Newsom spokesman Tony Winnicker tells the San Francisco Chronicle it should be kept in perspective. He said the mayors are trying to do some good while having fun, adding that the real contest is on the field.
