City Of Dallas Sells Farmers Market To Private Group
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - After 73 years of ownership, the City of Dallas has completed it's nearly 3-year quest to privatize the downtown Dallas Farmers Market by handing over ownership and management to DF Market Holdings, LLC.
The sale of land and buildings located at the Farmers Market include Shed 2, 3 and 4, a remote parking area and Administration office.
"We were determined to find the right partner for this vitally important project," said Mary Suhm, former city manager of the City of Dallas. "DF Market Holdings' experience and strategic capabilities will transform the Dallas Farmers Market into a vibrant, world-class exchange."
Renovation of the existing buildings is expected to begin in late fall/early winter 2013.
Along with keeping Shed 1 as a 'fresh farm marketplace', other proposed changes will consist of new retail areas, apartments and parking.
