Chilly & Wet Changes Coming

FROM WARM TO COLD IN NOTHING FLAT

Temperatures Tuesday afternoon climbed into the mid to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies and a gusty south wind.  If you're a fan of warmer weather, I hope you soaked up as much of it as you could today and really relish it tomorrow.  Expect a mild night tonight & another warm day Wednesday.  Clouds will increase throughout the day Wednesday ahead of a strong cold front that should approach the Metroplex by late day.

This front has already moved through the Rockies & Northern Plains where temperatures have fallen into the 30s!  Colorado is expecting the first blast of winter tonight and tomorrow with nearly two feet of snow expected in the mountains.  Expect our temperature drop to occur around sunset Wednesday evening.  It will stay quite chilly around here through Thursday as well.

Forecast:

Tuesday night...Partly cloudy.  Low near 67°.  South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday...Partly to mostly cloudy, breezy & still warm.  High near 84°.  South wind 10 to 20 mph.

Wednesday night...Front moves in by sundown...turning colder.  Slight chance of rain.  Low near 54°.

Thursday...Cloudy, windy, chilly & wet.  80% chance of cold rain.  High near 56°!  North wind 20-30 mph

ABOUT THE RAIN CHANCES

There is a chance of a  few thunderstorms just ahead the front Wednesday evening, but most of the rain with this system will be behind the cold front.  This limits our severe weather chances dramatically.  We are still not expecting a severe weather event like this past weekend.  Mainly we're looking at a cold rain for Wednesday night into Thursday.  Rain should taper off slowly during Thursday afternoon.  When all is said and done, North Texas should see 1/2 to 1" of rainfall...a slow soaking rainfall.

WORLD SERIES GAME 6 STILL LOOKING IFFY

Not much has changed in the outlook for Game 6 of the World Series in St. Louis Wednesday evening.  Wet, breezy and chilly is the forecast with a near 100% chance of rain.  The degree to which it is raining will determine whether or not there is a rain delay or even a postponement.

HURRICANE RINA STILL HEADING FOR YUCATAN

Hurricane Rina is forecast to be a major hurricane as it heads to the northwest toward the Yucatan Peninsula.  Cancun & Cozumel still need to take action to prepare for high surf & storm surge, winds over 100 mph and nearly a foot of rain.  This will be a nasty storm for the tourist industry in that area.  Hurricane warnings are already up for east coast of the Yucatan.

There is still a chance this storm take a jog back to the east toward Florida by next week.
