Changes Recommended For TxDOT

AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - The Texas Department of Transportation, better known as TxDOT, will soon see a major shakeup, after an independent panel recommended a list of changes including new senior leadership.

The TxDOT Restructure Council released their report on TxDOT's organizational plan Wednesday, recommending a top-down change of how one of the state's largest departments is run.

Financial oversight was a big part of the call for change, especially after recent shortfalls

Council member Howard Wolf says a change in senior leaders to a more business-oriented group is needed and he says those leaders need to make some changes in the way the agency thinks and operates. "TxDOT leadership must change its culture. The department should recast outdated views and beliefs and encourage open mindedness and innovation as well as value individual initiative."

The agency will face some major changes this upcoming legislative session since it's up for a complete legislative review.
