DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Dallas police and FBI investigators used a cell phone number to track down the suspected shooter in a murder-for-hire of a Dallas dentist, according to a federal complaint. The number led police to a car, where they found Kristopher Love, now charged in the death of Dr. Kendra Hatcher.

U.S. Attorney John Parker's office released the complaint for a federal firearm charge against Love Monday. The FBI took him into custody for an initial court appearance Tuesday. Love was convicted of aggravated robbery in Tennessee in 2005 and not allowed to possess a gun.

The complaint says detectives received the cell phone information leading to Love last Tuesday. It came in a new interview with Crystal Cortes, who had previously told investigators she drove a man named Kris to the murder. The document does not name Cortes directly, but some of the actions it describes have previously been attributed to her in state documents.

The document says in a meeting with police Sept. 29, Cortes revealed her cell phone had been used to call the man she knew as Kris. She said Brenda Delgado made the call. Delgado is also charged in the murder. Police believe she arranged the shooting, and was upset with Hatcher for dating her ex-boyfriend.

The complaint says Cortes also described the car Love was driving. Investigators used the cell phone to find the car, Love, and another person who was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A bomb-sniffing dog alerted investigators to a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson pistol under the front seat of the car. Hatcher was killed with a firearm of the same caliber.
