CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Just days after the departure of three top campaign advisers, GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson on Monday announced the selection of three new senior staff members to his national staff, including a longtime Carrollton public relations professional Larry Ross.

Ross, who is president of the eponymous A. Larry Ross Communications, comes to the job after decades of work in the Christian marketplace, representing clients such as evangelist Billy Graham and author/pastor Rick Warren.

"I am privileged to welcome Larry Ross to lead our communications team," Carson said in a news release issued by the campaign. "Larry has an incredible track record as a communications professional with proven results and a staunch commitment to the Christian values I hold dear."

In a statement, Ross said that he was excited about the opportunity to join the campaign at a "critical juncture."

"We are in a battle for the soul of our nation, and I am motivated by Dr. Carson's vision and passion to equip and empower each individual to move out of a culture of entitlement and dependency by taking responsibility and seizing opportunities, as each individual does his or her part to renew America," Ross said.

Carson also tapped Col. Christopher Bourne, USMC Retired, to serve as director of policy, and Jason Osborne to be a senior communications strategist.

The moves follow the resignation of Carson's campaign manager Barry Bennett, deputy campaign manager Lisa Coen and communications manager Doug Watts just weeks ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
