Car Crashes Into Building In Grapevine

GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - A vehicle smashed into the lobby of a building in downtown Grapevine early Wednesday morning. It happened at around 7:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of Main Street, just north of Highway 121.

Officials with the Grapevine Fire Department confirmed that the car went over a sidewalk and crashed straight into the front windows of a medical clinic that is located within a strip shopping center. Crews worked to clean up the scene.

A patient from the clinic, said to be in her 60s, was reportedly driving the car. It it not yet known what caused her to slam into the building. She was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries. She is expected to be okay. Nobody inside of the clinic was hurt.

"She had an appointment here," explained Sgt. Robert Eberling with the Grapevine Police Department. "There could be some situation, diabetic issue, we don't know. We are going to look into that."

The crash left a gaping hole in the front of the shopping center and shattered glass on the ground. Chairs and tables inside of the lobby area were tossed around. The clinic will be closed for at least the rest of Wednesday. Patients are being notified.
