Butterfly Release Helps Grieving Parents
WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - The saying goes if you love someone, set them free. Thursday night in Weatherford, that sentiment came to life at the fifth annual Butterfly Release.
The program helps grieving parents remember the children they loved and lost.
The event was created by A Hole in My Heart, a ministry and support group for parents who've lost a child.
"It really is a club that you really don't want to be a part of, but when you're here, you're not alone. It's okay to cry and it's okay to mourn," says Michelle Cloud, who lost her newborn son.
Her husband Tim joined her to grieve. "This is our way ot trying to find some closure, trying to find a little bit of peace. sending a message and sending out love to him"
After tears were shed, and lives remembered the butterflies were released. Carrying with them, if only for a flittering moment...peace.
"The greatest thing about the butterfly relased is the symbolism that there is new life. You think they curl up and die but they don't, there's new life there," says Kim Melton, who also lost her son.
A Hole in My Heart holds a grief support group the second Thursday of every month at Northside Baptist Church in Weatherford.
