Business Tax Still Short

The state's new business tax continues to under perform.  New numbers show the business tax is still running around 400 million dollars below projections.  Initially this tax was supposed to generate almost 6 billion dollars but it's never come close to that.  Right now "the current number is 3.846 billion dollars for this year."  And Associate Deputy Comptroller Mike Reissig says they aren't expecting the tax to collect anywhere close to five billion a year for at least the next five years.  He does expect collections to level off or maybe go up a little next year but because of the economy the revenue projection for that tax will likely have to be revised down.
