DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Firefighters responding to the scene of a grass fire discovered a person's burned body in south Dallas early Wednesday morning.

Police say the unidentified male, found in a creek bed, died from homicidal violence.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the scene of the fire in the 2600 block of E. Illinois Avenue at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

The body was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy and identification.
