Bomb Threats Cause Evacuations At 2 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Schools

GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - Two schools in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District were evacuated after receiving bomb threats.

Administrators confirmed the bomb threats were called in to the front offices at Grapevine Middle School and Cross Timbers Middle School.

Cross Timbers students were evacuated to the nearby Mustang Activity Center. Grapevine M.S. students were moved onto buses and also taken from campus.

Officials say all of the students were safe during the incident and advised parents not to try and go to the campuses to pick up their children.

The district sent an alert to parents that said, in part --

"As a District, we will always investigate claims of a threat as the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will continue to update you as we work with law enforcement."

In addition to police officers, K-9 units were called in to investigate at both campuses. Just before 11 a.m. students at both Cross Timbers and Grapevine M.S. were given the all-clear and students and staff began returning to the buildings.

In addition to the two middle schools, just after 10:30 a.m. administrators confirmed that another bomb threat was called in at iUniversity Prep in Grapevine.

iUniversity Prep is an online public school but there are instructors and staff on campus in Grapevine. They have also been evacuated. Officials there said they are "awaiting clearance by law enforcement before returning to the building."
