Best look at the timing on our cold front and rain. Are you ready for some fall?
We are on the eve of strongest cold front so far this season. Can you feel the excitement in the air? It is a little like Christmas Eve. I know I can't wait to open the windows and break out the jacket.
The timing of our cold front still looks to be on track for Saturday morning in DFW.
STORM CHANCE FOR SATURDAY
When the front arrives in North Texas there will not be a lot of upper level support for strong thunderstorms. That means that our threat for severe weather is very low. In fact, I don't expect any severe weather. Instead, we will mainly see showers and maybe an isolated thunderstorm or two. And most of the scattered showers will occur after the cold front passes thru the area. That will lead to a chilly rain.
COLD FRONT TIMING
This will be a pretty cold front to look at tomorrow morning. I expect there to be a dark cloud with drizzle and rain that will mark the leading edge of the cold air. If you are outside and see dark clouds approaching from the west, that will be the cold front.
Below is a look at different points during the day on Saturday.
SATURDAY 4AM - Still mild in DFW.
SATURDAY 7AM - Front moves into western counties of North Texas. A thin line of showers and maybe an isolated thunderstorm accompanies the front. Ahead of the front still in the 70s.
SATURDAY 9AM - Front passing thru DFW. Temperatures behind the front will be falling into the upper 50s. Scattered rain in the metro area.
SATURDAY NOON- Gusty north winds arrive in DFW with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. Jacket and coat weather for outdoor events. Some spotty showers.
SATURDAY 3PM - Chilly weather with temps in the 60s and gusty north winds. Scattered rain continues.
SATURDAY 7PM - Temperatures still in the 60s with gusty north winds. Spotty showers continue.
SATURDAY 10PM - Still lingering rain with temperatures falling into the 50s.
SUNDAY 3AM - Skies begin to clear and temperatures will be in the 50s and 40s.
