Bedford Fire Now Arson Investigation
BEDFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Bedford's Fire Chief tells CBS 11 that a post-Christmas fire is being investigated as arson.
On December 26, a two alarm fire broke out at a building on Bedford Road east of Brown Trail. No one was hurt. The building had, at one point, been a business.
Fire Chief James Tindell says the fire was "very suspicious" because the building had no electricity and it had been condemned about a year ago.
Chief Tindell tells CBS 11 the burned out structure was demolished because of safety issues before New Year's Day. An apartment complex and elementary school are within a block of the fire scene.
A fence has been set up around the perimeter. A large sign out front alerts people driving or walking in the area about the arson investigation. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. People with tips can call the Bedford Fire Department at 817-952-2127.
Chief Tindell says it's not unusual for the department to offer rewards in arson cases.
