Bedford Televangelist: I'm Being Extorted Over Affair
BEDFORD (AP) - A prominent local televangelist says three people tried to extort millions of dollars from him to stay quiet about an affair he had with a woman several years ago.
Marcus Lamb made the comments Tuesday during a special broadcast on the DayStar Television Network. He and his wife Joni founded the global Christian network, which is based in Bedford off Highway 121.
The Lambs said they had been keeping their troubles private so they could heal their marriage, but are going public now because they would rather risk humiliation than give in to extortion.
A spokesman for the Lambs says he doesn't know whether law enforcement authorities are investigating.
DayStar, broadcast in North Texas on KDTN-TV (Channel 2) features some of the highest-profile evangelists in the world, including Houston-based Joel Osteen, Dallas-based T.D. Jakes and Irving-based Benny Hinn.
