'Beat The Heat' Centers Open In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW) -- After a rain-filled spring and cooler start to summer, the 100 degree heat typical in North Texas has finally arrived.

In response, the City of Dallas has opened two facilities designated as "Beat the Heat" centers where citizens can escape the rising temperatures.

The centers are located at:

Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center
2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Monday-Friday

West Dallas Multipurpose Center
2828 Fish Trap Road
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- Monday-Friday
Phone: 214-670-6340

City officials are also reminding citizens to utilize all available Park and Recreation or Library facilities during normal business hours.

Temperatures are expected to remain at or near 100 degrees at least through the weekend.
