Back to Dry and Warm
TODAY: Sunny, Highs 81°, Winds N 10-20
TONIGHT: Mostly Clear, Lows 55°, Winds: Light
TOMORROW: Mostly Sunny, Highs 83°, Winds S 5-10
In the last five days DFW logged 2.33" of rain. That's more rain that DFW reported for the last three months (July, August, September: 1.71"). Not only did the 100° temperatures go away (we suffered our last 100 degree day of 2011 a mere nine days ago) but the much needed rain returned. For a while. We are getting right back to dry weather, it could be around for over a week.
BALLGAME FORECAST
Game five in Detroit this afternoon will start under cloudy skies and cool temperatures, it should be in the upper 60's at first pitch. It's a 30% chance of rain but increases as the game wears on.
NICE TODAY, NICE TOMORROW
Plenty of sunshine today and low humidity teamed with a brisk north wind will keep temperatures in the 70's for most of the day. Fine fall weather continues for Friday. After a cool start in the mid-50's we should get into the low 80's by afternoon. Again, lots of sunshine in store for us. The Friday night football forecast could hardly look better with kick-off temperatures in the low-70's under mostly clear skies and just a hint of a south wind.
WARM WEEKEND
The winds turn to the southwest for the weekend. The rains will have dried out of the surface soils by then. We'll have mostly sunny skies. All this teams up to produce well above normal temperatures. We should have highs reach into the upper 80's both days. It is going to be a great weekend to be outside. The five day outlook for rainfall shows us dry:
BIG COOL DOWN AHEAD
The work week is going to start a little warm. We'll have highs in the upper 80's with a brisk SW wind and clouds coming in. A cold front is heading in late in the day or in the night; it is going to cool things down considerably. We'll go from 80 degree weather to highs in the mid-70's on Tuesday and barely 70° by Wednesday. We haven't had a day where the highs only reached in the 60's since the first few days of May and this could happen next week at DFW. It'll be a reminder to us all the seasons do turn no matter how much of a punch any one of them carries. While the change of sun angle insures the end of summer heat it doesn't guarantee the return of rain. The long range forecast continues to show dry conditions but doesn't mean it'll be free of winter weather. Make sure to tune in tomorrow for Larry Mowry's Winter outlook. Below is a graphic from the Climate Prediction Center showing the next three months to have below normal precipitation for the Southwest, Texas and Deep South..
