AZ Police Explain Why Granbury Wife Not Notified Of Husband's Death

GRANBURY (CBS11) - Arizona police told the partner of a Granbury man killed there that she wasn't contacted because the couple wasn't legally married.
Laney Sweet is however the mother of two of victim Daniel Shaver's children. Shaver was shot and killed by a Mesa police officer Sunday night after multiple reports that he was pointing a rifle out of the hotel window.
Sweet said no one in Mesa, Arizona contacted her about his death. But police told CBS11 News in a statement that they contacted Shaver's father in Tennessee. They said Shaver's father told them he would tell the rest of the family.
The officer involved in the incident has worked with the Mesa Police Department for two and a half years and is currently administratively reassigned.
