Arlington To Begin Ground Spraying

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Ground spraying for mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus will begin in the city of Arlington Sunday night.

"It has been a progressive approach, "said Arlington Fire Chief Don Crowson. "The City has been actively testing mosquitoes for a number of weeks and monitoring the results. We've been watching trends and reacting accordingly and now we are at the point where targeted spraying in some places is the best option."

Spraying is scheduled for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday  at Jake Langston Park, Doug Russell Park Spraying and near Arlington Municipal Airport. All spraying will take place between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Rebecca Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the City of Arlington says the chemical, Envion, poses no significant health risk. Residents with asthma or other respiratory conditions are asked to say inside during the spraying.
