Arlington Cracks Down On Street Signs
With 188 days until the Super Bowl in Arlington, the city is stepping up efforts to suppress illegal street signs claiming homeowners can make up to ten-thousand dollars-a-day by renting out their homes to Super Bowl fans. Community Services Director Lee Hitchcock says they've already destroyed at least 300 signs and workers are patrolling the streets looking for more. While that figure is a drop-in-the-bucket compared to the 20-to-50-thousand illegal signs taken down in Arlington every year, Hitchcock is concerned the Super Bowl-themed signs will proliferate as the bit game approaches. The black-and-white signs are mostly concentrated along the major streets and in residential neighborhoods near Cowboys Stadium where Super Bowl 45 will be played next February. Arlington has already told at least two companies to stop putting out the signs and has issued them a combined 18 misdemeanor citations.
