CEDAR HILL (CBS11) - As many as 24 families have been removed from what the City of Cedar Hill is calling dangerous living conditions.
Tenants in building 21 at High Point Village in Cedar Hill spent much of the evening holding bags carrying around what little they can take with them.
It was condemned because of severe mold, water damage, collapsing walls and no air conditioning.
The property is owned by an out of state investor group called PF Holdings that gets $700 to $900 in monthly rents from taxpayers to house low income families.
While a few nights in a hotel may help, Sharon Bookman and others left behind most of what they own.
"I don't want to leave my stuff I paid my rent this month I want to be in my home," said Brookman.
A property manager sent an email to tenants saying she was at a loss for words to express her sorrow but offering no long term solution to these people who are on the brink of being homeless.
