Another Subfreezing Night Ahead

After all of the snowfall reports, this is the map of how much of it we saw on Christmas Day.

After yesterday's snowfall, we experienced the coldest night of the year at DFW.  It was frigid everyone in North Texas early Wednesday, with wind chills in the single digits!

The sun did work to melt a good deal of snow, especially on cars and concrete areas.  But there are still a few icy patches in the shade.  Any melted snow could refreeze tonight after the sun goes down, as temperatures haven't warmed above freezing Wednesday.  It stayed in the upper 20s this afternoon in most of Denton and Collin counties, which saw the most snowfall Tuesday.

Expect a hard freeze tonight over all of North Texas.

Tomorrow, with a south wind we will warm up above freezing and the vast majority of remaining ice and snow should be melt and evaporate.  Still a pretty chilly day.

A weak storm system over California will approach on Friday...and may trigger a few showers in our eastern areas.  The front is not very strong, but will reinforce the cool air over North Texas through the weekend.  A stronger storm is forecast to affect us on New Years Eve and New Years Day...could be a wet start to 2013.
