North Texas high schools closed on Wednesday over bomb threats, districts say
Anna High School and Coppell High School are both closed on Wednesday due to bomb threats.
Anna ISD said in a notice to parents Wednesday morning that the closure was "out of an abundance of caution."
"At this time, we are actively working with law enforcement to conduct a sweep of the building," the notice said. The rest of the district is operating as normal.
Coppell ISD said in a statement that the district and Coppell PD learned of a bomb threat against the high school at about 8:20 a.m. Students who were already on campus were relocated and busses on the way to school were redirected and classes canceled for the day so police could investigate.
"We want to reassure our community that the Coppell Police Department is doing a thorough investigation to ensure CHS is safe before reopening," the district said.
Duncanville ISD also issued a statement Wednesday morning that Duncanville High School was the target of a bomb threat. District and city police were able to sweep the building before students arrived, and determined the threat was not credible.
It is unclear whether the threats against the schools were connected.
