Angels beat AL West champion Rangers on final day

Hideki Matsui hit a two-run homer and Peter Bourjos added a solo shot, as the Angels beat the AL West champion Texas Rangers, 6-2, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Texas, in the playoffs for the first time since 1999, will be on the road to play the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays in the Division Series, starting Wednesday at 1:37 p.m. (et).

Mark Trumbo added a two-run single in the ninth -- his first career RBIs -- for the Angels (80-82), who earned a split in the four-game set and finished below .500 for the first time since 2003.

Dan Haren (5-4) allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out three over seven innings in picking up the victory. The right-hander did not issue a walk.

Bengie Molina and Julio Borbon each and run-scoring singles for Texas (90-72), which had won three of four entering the series finale.
