Airline Rage Becoming A Bigger Problem

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) –We've all seen cell phone videos of temper tantrums and belligerent passengers. A group representing the airlines warns that the number of unruly passengers is rising worldwide. Airlines say passengers who are drunk are mostly to blame.
The International Air Transport Association says there were nearly 11,000 air rage incidents worldwide last year. That's 1500 cases more than in 2014. The transport group says in most cases unruly passengers had consumed alcohol before the flight.
Police at DFW International Airport regularly arrest people for public intoxication, and most passengers want them kept off their flights as well.
One airline traveler, Nick Christy, says, "I feel sorry for the staff to have to deal with that. But there should be a system in place that stops people like that from getting on an aircraft."
In some cases, at DFW Intentional Airport and other airports, airlines do notify police that passengers are intoxicated before they board.
The air transport association wants tougher laws against unruly passengers worldwide. They also want airport bars to not allow customers to binge drink.
"If you've had one too many, just like you can't get behind the wheel," says passenger Hamed Naghsh
