Ahead: Slight Rain Chances, Slightly Cooler
Another August day and another Heat Advisory for the metro area. This will be our 9th day in a row of 100 plus highs. We'll run the table to ten before clouds and slight rain chances provide a modest cool down.
Yesterday it hit 105°, the hottest day of the year so far. It'll be in the 90's this weekend and beyond.
We are again watching big storms move across Oklahoma this morning. It's been wet on the north side of the Red River this year. OKC shows a suplus of rain so far this year of 19" (41.7" to date). Meanwhile DFW shows a deficit of over 5" for the year.
Our rain chances start to pick up over the next few days. The low pressure system producing the big rains to our north will slide to the east, dragging a weak cold front into north Texas late Friday:
The rain chances tomorrow are meager for the metro, above 10% chance. They improve on Saturday when the front is sitting overhead and combines with the daytime heating:
We won't exactly break the heat, the humidity will be high making it feel rather muggy. Still its better than highs in triple digits. This time of year we'll take what we can get. Now...if just SOME of that rain up in Oklahoma will come our way...
