Affidavit Released In Firefighter's Death

ROYSE CITY (CBSDFW.COM) – The wife of a murdered firefighter admitted to Royse City Police her involvement, and her alleged motive in his death.
Chacey Poynter remains jailed on a $500,000 bond in the killing of her husband, University Park fire captain, Bob Poynter.
Poynter was shot to death last Saturday on a dark road in rural Hunt County.
In an affidavit released by the Royse City Police Department, Chacey Poynter allegedly admitted plotting with her boyfriend, Michael Garza, to kill her husband.
Garza, according to the affidavit, shot and killed the fireman and is being held on a $1 million bond for murder.
Chacey told a detective her husband was abusive and threatened to take their daughter in a divorce, and she wanted to hurt him.
Police say Mrs. Poynter outlined a chronology of contacting Garza, talking to him about a plan to "hurt" her husband.
Poynter, according to the report, took Garza to a dark county road. He was armed with a shotgun. She then called her husband and said she was stuck on the dirt road. After Garza shot Captain Poynter, the wife screamed, then called 911.
Royce City Police have provided no further details tying Poynter and Garza to the murder.
