A Warm Day Ahead Of A Stormy Wednesday

Strong Southerly winds kept North Texas nice and mild this morning. The average low during this time of the year should cool to the mid 50s but this morning temps were in the upper 60s to the lower 70s. You can feel the change in the airmass as more moisture is working back into the Southern Plains.  The low level moisture will be in place and then we are going to see tropical moisture from the Pacific work into NTX during the next 24 hours.

A lot of cloud cover streamed overhead last night and through the morning hours. This cloud cover will continue over NTX today so I don't expext a nice sunny day. Temps though will repsond to the moisture and southerly winds and climb into the lower 80s.  Just before 9AM storms were moving through Missouri as a shortwave was pushing east ahead of the upper level low over Northern Nevada.  Winds will remain breezy today measuring between 15mph-25mph.

North Texas remains under a slight risk of severe storms Wednesday with the biggest threat being late afternoon and early evening according to the European Forecast Model. The afternoon commute looks tricky. The biggest threat from these strong to severe storms will be flooding and I won't be surprised if on Wednesday there is a Flood Watch issued. There is a lot of moisture already in place and more moisture increase is expected. As much at 2"-4" of rain is possible to accumulate across NTX before a slow moving cold front moves through Wednesday Night into Thursday AM.

Large hail and damaging winds can't be ruled out right now but the best dynamics looks to be further north of NTX.

After the front passes then the clouds will clear and your trick or treat forecast will be dry and temps in the mid 60s possible. However, Friday AM temps will start in the lower 50s which is slightly below average. This weekend looks fantastic with highs in the lower 70s and overnight lows in the lower 50s.
