9-Year-Old Child Hit By Car Dies

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- A 9-year-old North Texas girl has died after the tricycle she was riding was struck by a car.

Arlington police say Jasmine Abdelaziz was crossing the street in her neighborhood around 7 p.m. Thursday when the accident occurred.

Police spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Police says the girl was hit and dragged down the street a short distance before the car's driver stopped.

Jasmine was taken to a Fort Worth hospital where she died from her injuries.

Police continue to investigate circumstances surrounding the accident though Ellis says the driver showed no signs of being impaired and has cooperated with officers.
