80s & Rain in July? It's In the Forecast

We are currently experiencing pretty typical July weather: highs in the 90s.  In fact you look back since 2000, over half of July days are in the 90s.  Additionally, 28% of July days are spent in triple digits.  However, as you read ahead, we are anticipating highs in the 80s next week and that only happens in 8% of July days in North Texas, at least since 2000.

We are expecting 100s this weekend in North Texas as high pressure aloft continues to strengthen slightly.

By next week, a strong cold front will develop across the northern U.S. and plow into our area by Tuesday.  This is going to be associated with a big dip in the jet stream across the Midwest.  Unusually cool weather will be the feature across the eastern 2/3 of the country.  We will see highs in the 80s here by Wednesday!

There will be rain around too next week, in fact the higher rain chances is what will keep our high temps so mild!  Computer models are hinting at a good soaking, especially Thursday & Friday of next week.

We could definitely use the rain to give us a break on our water bills and the mild temperatures to give us a break on our energy bills.  So the reward for suffering through the weekend heat, will be next week's cool down!
