25 in a row!

THE STREAK CONTINUES!!!

We did officially make it to 100 degrees at DFW today.  Marking the 25th day in a row of triple digit heat.  This now puts us in a tie for the 3rd longest streak on record.  Today is also the 32 day this year with temperatures at or above 100 degrees.  That puts us in 13th place for most 100 degree days in a year.

HOTTEST SUMMER SINCE 1980.

If you look at the average temperatures this summer is just slightly behind the summer of 1980.  Here are the average temperatures for each year.

2011 – 88.8

1980 – 89.2

The average temperature is where you take the average of the high and low from each day.

NO END IN SIGHT…

Triple digit weather remains in the forecast thru the weekend and next week.  The upper level high that has been with us during this stretch will continue its grip.  It will move a little east over the next few days, but this will have little impact on us.  There may be a little more moisture on Thursday, Friday and Saturday which could allow for a few spotty showers and thunderstorms like we saw today, but coverage will be very low.

WATCHING THE TROPICS…

There is a tropical wave in the Caribbean that could make it to the Texas coast by the weekend.  There is a small chance this could develop.  But most models keep this as an open wave.  It looks like the moisture from this wave will probably stay too far to the south to really bring us any rain.  But it will be watched.

HOTTER NEXT WEEK!!!

The upper level ridge looks like it might position itself right over top of North Texas next week which would actually bring us the hottest weather we have seen this summer!  And this would also prolong our 100 degree streak.
