DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – At least eight units at the Solana Ridge Apartments in southeast Dallas were gutted by a fire that started outside a first-floor unit.

The 2-alarm fire quickly spread vertically to the unit above it and finally into the attic, where it spread laterally and caused the majority of its damage.

Investigators don't know how many residents were displaced but no injuries were reported.

Resident Gary Atkinson said the fire is the last push he needed to relocate from the apartments.

"They're really not working with anybody they refuse to come fix any issues and it's just my time to go," he said.

The American Red Cross was called out to help those impacted by the fire.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
