18 Fort Worth Families Homeless After Apartment Fire

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth Fire Department responded to the fire at an apartment complex on the 2000 block of Hemphill Street Thursday.

Ten of the twenty units within the complex were either destroyed or heavily damaged due to fire and smoke.

Firefighters were able to control and diminish the massive fire within about 20 minutes.

Four people sustained injuries in the fire. Two of those injured were minor trauma and smoke inhalation.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening. 18 residents are now displaced and being assisted by Red Cross.

A spokesman for the Red Cross said they are working to provide a safe place for resident to stay.

Fort Worth Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
