100 Degrees Today at DFW... Oh yeah, it's Sept. 29th!!!
SPECIAL NOTE: So far at DFW the high has been 100 degrees as of 3pm. This is the 71 day this year with temperatures in the triple digits. There have only been 3 times since records began where we have seen a 100 degree day this late in the year. The latest date ever for a 100 degree day is Oct. 3 when we reached a high of 106 on Oct. 3, 1951. We have also reached the 100s twice on Oct 1 of 1979 and 1938
HOT TODAY, NOT SO HOT TOMORROW…
A cold front will be moving into North Texas this evening. That front currently approaching the Red River near Wichita Falls as of 3pm will pass thru the area this evening. There is a small chance of a few isolated showers maybe a thunderstorm with the front. Rain coverage will be less than 20% so most will not see any rain. If you are outside this evening, you will notice a wind shift with winds coming out of the NE behind the front. It will be breezy behind the front too with winds gusting to 20-25 mph. This breeze will continue all night and during the morning hours tomorrow.
ELEVATED FIRE DANGER TONIGHT AND TOMORROW…
With the breezy NE wind blowing and the air drying out behind the front, there will be an elevated risk of grassfires spreading rapidily. Winds will lesson during the afternoon Friday to about 10 to 15 mph. And temperatures will just be wonderful for the first day of the State Fair of Texas. I am expecting highs in the low 80s tomorrow.
GREAT WEEKEND…
State Fair of Texas, Rangers Games, all outdoor events will just be loving the nice weather this weekend. Morning lows will be in the 50s and afternoon highs will be in the mid to low 80s.
NICE WEATHER THRU MOST OF NEXT WEEK…
This pleasant weather will continue thru most of next week. Temperatures in the 50s in the morning and then 80s in the afternoon. Earlier this week, I was talking about the potential for some rain chances by the end of next week as the upper level pattern changes. That is still a possibility, but the models are differing on the far southern extent of this upper level trough by late next week. Some models take all the energy into the Central Plains and leave nothing for us. Some still bring it close enough to Texas for some rain chances. If there are any rain chances next week it won't be until Friday or Saturday of next week. You can see the 7-day forecast right here.
