100 Degree Streak Continues

STREAK CONTINUES… NO SURPRISE…

105 was the high today at DFW.  That make 38 days in a row.  And for the year we stand at 45 days of triple digit heat.  That puts us in 6th place for the most 100 degree days in a year.  Said another way, there have only been 5 years with more 100 degree days than this year.

COLD FRONT GETS CLOSE…
A cold front will get close to the Red River tomorrow, but it will not make it into Texas.  With the cold front nearby our winds will turn to the southwest tomorrow.  This will make it even hotter.  Temps tomorrow will be in the 106 to 110 range.  There could be a few showers and storms north of the Red River, but those will likely not make it into North Texas.

HEAT SUBSIDES SOME…

The big ridge of high pressure will shift west later this week.  That will allow highs to drop into the 102 to 105 range later this week into the weekend.  No real good chance of rain in the forecast, but Sunday may feature an isolated shower or storm.

1980 STREAK LIKELY TO BE BROKEN…

Unless, something unexpected happens, the streak of 100 degree weather will surpass the 42 consecutive day record set in 1980.  We will tie the record on Friday and break it on Saturday.
