Dallas (CBSDFW.COM) - Nicholas Fierros Jr., the 10-year-old boy kidnapped at gunpoint by armed men in Dallas Monday, is talking about his 6 hour ordeal.
"Three guys took me," said Fierros. "I thought they were going to punch me."
Police are still searching for the three men responsible for storming into Fierros' aunt's house Monday afternoon. They demanded cash, but took the little boy instead; wrapping him in duct tape and blindfolding him. Police said the family was targeted.
"We don't believe this was a random act. Statements by the suspects indicate they specifically targeted the home. We want to alleviate any fear," said Assistant Chief Randy Blankenbaker with the Dallas Police Department.
Fierros' cousin Janet Cabrales, called 911 while hiding in the laundry room during the home invasion. She said the suspects were dressed in all black.
"He was like… 'hey the cops are coming, grab the kid, let's go,' " she said.
Cabrales said she thinks the kidnappers found numbers on Nicholas' phone then sent text messages to her father saying, "tell the police to leave" and "tell helicopter leave now."
Janet's father, Samuel Cabrales confirmed that the police know about the texts. He also said the kidnappers wanted money.
"He said, 'We want $60,000,' " said Samuel Cabrales.
Cabrales said the kidnappers claimed they had his son.
"If you want to see your son back, don't call the cops," the kidnappers told him.
"I guessed they let him go 'cause they found out it wasn't my dad's son," said Janet.
But she worries they may try again.
"Are they going to take me? Or are they going to take my little brother? Are they going to kill my mother? Or are they going to kill me 'cause they know I called police. I'm pretty scared right now."
In the end, no exchange of ransom went down before Fierros was found. His kidnappers dropped him off behind a house, according to the child, took of the duct tape and left him there alone.
A short time later a woman driving by saw the distraught little boy, barefoot and alone. She stopped and helped him.
Police said that no one is in custody at this time, and no suspects have been identified.
