"The path that led me here in recent weeks was no doubt unexpected," Harris said of her nomination. "But I'm no stranger to unlikely journeys."
The Republican National Committee and GOP state legislative leaders in Arizona asked the Supreme Court to put on hold a federal district court's order that blocked the voting laws while they pursued an appeal.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff recalled his childhood growing up in New Jersey and California and shared the story of meeting his now wife, Vice President Kamala Harris.
"We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos," Barack Obama told the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
