SF Firefighters Accused Of Peeing In Bed Of Female Firefighter In 'Egregious Harassment' Case

KCBS_740SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A female firefighter reportedly suffered six months of verbal taunting and at least one of her co-workers even urinated in her bed, according to a city human resources investigation.

This being a confidential personnel matter, details are hard to come by, but the San Francisco Chronicle obtained a letter from fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White, quoting her as describing egregious harassment and deficient leadership at Station 2 in Chinatown.

The chief is transferring all the officers there to new assignments in the early October.

The chief gave KCBS a written statement about zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination and retaliation.  She blamed deficient leadership for allowing the alleged abuse to continue from January to July.

Hayes-White says she takes swift and comprehensive action to make workplaces safe for all personnel, including women firefighters.
