Santa Rosa Man Uncooperative With Police After Getting Shot Outside Home

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - Shots were fired when two men confronted a Santa Rosa resident as he was pulling into his driveway early Wednesday morning, a police sergeant said.

Residents in the 2300 block of Gambels Way in west Santa Rosa were awakened around 2:50 a.m. by loud noises and gunfire, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said.

Officers responded and found the victim, 24-year-old Chad John Curley, at a nearby park, Banayat said.

Curley told police he had been approached by two men, one of whom was armed, as he pulled into his driveway, Banayat said.

He escaped by backing out of the driveway and accelerating away, striking a car parked in the street as he fled, Banayat said.

Banayat said Curley was not cooperating with police but told them several shots had hit his vehicle as he drove away.

One suspect is described a light-skinned black man. The second man is described as Hispanic with short hair, Banayat said. Both are believed to be in their 20s and stand about 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Police were not classifying the incident as gang-related, Banayat said.
