Magnitude 3.1 Quake Strikes Northern Sonoma County

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) - A 3.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded early Wednesday morning in Sonoma County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck two miles north of The Geysers, which is about 25 miles north of Santa Rosa, at 12:57 a.m., according to the USGS.

The quake had a depth of 2.1 miles. The Geysers is an area known for a large number of seismic events.

There were no initial reports of damage or injuries.
