Three Accused Of Holding Pregnant Woman Captive
CERES (CBS13) – Three men have been arrested in connection with an assault on a pregnant woman, who was allegedly held as a hostage for more than a week, authorities said.
The Ceres Police Department said the 18-year-old victim went to the hospital on February 4 and reported being held captive and assaulted at the home of her boyfriend, 21-year-old Richard Garibay, since January 27.
The pregnant woman said Garibay became upset after discovering a message on her phone, and began beating her and threatening her with a handgun. One of Garibay's friends allegedly suggested they should kill her and dispose of her body, and for the next week, they refused to let her leave.
The victim finally convinced the men to let her go on February 4 after her visible injuries had healed, and the hospital notified police about her injuries.
Garibay was arrested on charges of spousal abuse, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats on February 7 when he appeared in court on an unrelated matter. Police obtained a search warrant and raided his home, discovering stolen electronics, methamphetamine and a handgun with ammunition capable of penetrating body armor.
Investigators also arrested two men inside the home. Armando Osegueda, 20, was arrested for terrorist threats and accessory to Garibay's alleged crimes, and 35-year-old Jose Osegueda was arrested for possession of controlled substances and other charges.
