THE LIST- 3 Memorable Moments from the Weekend in Sports

THE LIST for September 21st from Halftime with Jason and Nate--3 notable moments from the weekend in sports.

Nate's LIST:

  1. The Surprising Start for the Arizona Cardinals- Nate realizes that they were good a year ago but they have had 2 complete wins so far in this early season.  With Carson Palmer back in the mix and Larry Fitzgerald looking like his old form the Cardinals have the highest scoring offense right now in the NFL.
  2. The Surprising Start for the New Orleans Saints-- It is a little shocking to see this New Orleans team winless so far and to lose at home on Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Saints used to be dominant at home and that is no longer the case.  Nate also claimed himself to be the "uniform police"  and didn't like that the Saints wore white at home, he says leave that for the Dallas Cowboys.  Combine that with today's news that Brees has an injured shoulder, it may get worse before it get's better for New Orleans.

  3.  The Dolphins Defense-  After spending a ton of money on Ndamukong Suh they were supposed to be a top tier defense.  So far they are 1-1 after a bad loss yesterday in Jacksonville and apparently they are already bickering among the defensive players.  Also add in to the fact that reportedly Suh has been ignoring defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's calls and has been freelancing on his own.

    JASON's LIST :

    1. Cal and Texas Giving Us Late Game Drama- With Cal running out of gas after building a big lead the Longhorns came storming back to score 20 points in the 4th quarter.  They needed 21 and thought they would get it when they scored a touchdown with just over a minute to play.  Texas senior kicker Nick Rose missed the extra point and Cal survived to stay perfect.

2. Ole Miss Beats Alabama but Scores on Wild Play- The game itself had plenty of drama but to also have one of the more bizarre plays occur made this Saturday night shootout even more special.

3. Survivor Pool Success-- This last one is purely selfish for me but it certainly was memorable.  I had entered a survivor pool where you pick 1 NFL team a week to win.  If that team wins you advance, with the only catch being you can't pick the same team twice.  Usually these pools last about 10-12 weeks for the season and slowly people get eliminated until there is one last person standing.  The pool wasn't that large with about 20 people.  3 were ousted in week 1 and then came Sunday's games. I stayed away from New Orleans but about a dozen people fell victim with the Saints.  We had a few pick St. Louis, 1 went with Tennessee and a few more picked Miami.  They are all out and I, for some reason, went with Cleveland.  The only survivor and it's over by week 2.  I know it's strange to be done so early but all I can think about is the quote from the movie Jerry Maguire.
