Stockton Boy, 3, Run Over In Apartment Carport

STOCKTON (CBS13) -- A 3-year-old Stockton boy had to be airlifted to a hospital after his neighbor accidentally ran him over in a carport.

The driver, Cesar Cagabe, tells CBS13 he was pulling into the Stockton apartment complex on Bridle Path when the little boy darted in front of him.

The driver didn't see the boy but heard his father screaming "stop!"

It appears the boy was hit and then dragged a few feet.

Cagabe says he was traveling less than 10 miles an hour.

"I didn't see the boy," he said. "If I'd seen the boy ... I would have stopped right away."

Police continue to investigate. The boy reportedly suffered head trauma but the extent of his injuries wasn't immediately available. He was taken to UC Davis Medical Center.
