Saetern Speaks Out About Murder Of Wife, Sons
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The man accused of gunning down his wife and two sons in his South Sacramento home last month admitted to the murders in a jailhouse interview with CBS13.
Koei Saetern, 47, said a domestic dispute with his wife turned ugly late at night on November 8, quickly escalating into violence.
"We went to sleep, I touched my wife and she says, 'Don't touch me, don't touch me,' three times," Saetern said. "I said, 'No, don't do that.'"
Saetern's two sons, ages 22 and 19, pulled him off his wife and held him down for at least half an hour. When he broke loose, he said he ran into his room and grabbed his gun.
His sons followed him into the room, and Saetern said he shot one.
"I couldn't control it, you know, I couldn't control myself," he said.
The other son fled from the room, but Saetern followed.
"He ran out of the room, run out and I did it again," he said.
Three other children who were in the home -- two daughters and a nephew -- ran to a neighbor's home when the shooting started, but Saetern's wife confronted him and he shot her as well, he said.
"In my mind, sometimes, I dream, I see them and I feel bad," Saetern said.
He regrets his actions, he added.
