Nevada County Supervisors Approve New Tax To Pay For Higgins Fire Department
HIGGINS (CBS13) — The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a new tax to pay for the Higgins Fire Department.
The 4,700 property tax payers will go from paying $25 a year for fire and medical services to $144 a year, or $12 a month.

The Higgins Fire District covers 90 square miles just north of Auburn. Firefighters say federal funding is about to expire, and now they need voters to agree to foot a larger bill.
People living in the area will vote in the measure in August.
