Janitors Protest In Downtown Sacramento Over Wages, Health Care
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A protest in downtown Sacramento on Thursday morning ended with arrests.
Hundreds of janitors and their supporters are upset over wages and access to affordable health care.
"We really want to send a clear message to the 1 percent," said Cecille Isidro, a spokeswoman with the Service Employees International Union, which represents the janitors.
Police responded to the protest, closing down an intersection at Capitol Mall and Third Street. That's when some protesters decided to sit in the street and were arrested.
Seven protesters were arrested voluntarily.
