Eldery Man Hit And Killed In South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday morning while he was crossing a street in South Sacramento.

Police say the man was crossing Fruitridge Road near Stockton Boulevard at around 6:30 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

A witness said the elderly man lived nearby and regularly rode in a power chair to McDonald's or another nearby restaurant in the morning. The witness, who was shaken up, said the man usually crossed at the intersection, but today he was crossing farther down the street and was walking with a cane.

The injured man was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.
