Customers Campout For LED TV Deal As 99 Cents Only Celebrates New Location Opening
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A new 99 Cents Only store in Sacramento had people sleeping overnight to get a 40-inch TV for just 99 cents.
If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Well not this time as the store celebrated its grand opening on Florin Road by selling the TV for less than a buck to the first nine customers.
For shoppers like Robert Gonzales, it was a deal worth losing sleep over.
"I quite got no sleep. I don't even know what day it is," he said.
Arturo Venegas would know. He's been camping outside the new 99 Cents Only store since Monday and says he plans to "take off running" once he gets his TV.
"My TV is on its way out and this was a good deal. I couldn't pass it up," customer Cherise Evans said.
Vivian Meadows isn't just excited for the TV but also the new location.
"I'm so happy it's here, not on Stockton. I go to El Camino, so now I can come right here," she said.
Gonzales says he thinks it will make the other grocers in the area more competitive.
"They're going to be killing everybody with the prices," said Gonzales.
Although the weather may have been a little less than favorable, it was well worth the wait for these customers.
The company also hired 50 employees for its new location.
