A group of lawmakers is introducing legislation that aims to strengthen the bail process and protect potential victims of violence from offenders with prior violent convictions or charges.
Five Democrats joined all Republicans to support the bill in the wake of controversial decisions by an Allegheny County judge.
KDKA Investigates reviewed hundreds of arraignment decisions of district judges who ran on platforms of not imposing cash bail.
"No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can't afford bail," Mill said.
